Sister Circle
May

to Dec 1

Sister Circle

In Sister Circle, we are safe to be, become and behold the sacred woman. Women have been creating sister circles, both publicly and privately for centuries. They are a sacred container for sharing, cultivating and transmuting the

divine feminine energy we intuitively possess and understand our selves through. Each month, we will gather in circle to welcome and nurture the sister within, so that we can then express our respect and devotion to all sisters on the planet. We will share our stories, heal our wounds, empower one another and find our gifts so that we may, return to our relationships, families, communities and species as the leaders and healers we know ourselves to be. Each week we will honor the rhythm and cycles of nature and the cosmos, we will sing, write, speak, reflect, engage in ritual and honor rites of passage. All women are welcome. All women are safe. And all women are called to gather!

We will meet the first sunday of each month at 12-1:30 on May 5, June 2, July 7, August 4, Sept 8, Oct 6, Nov 3, Dec 1 2019.

Donations are greatly appreciated to support the faciliators and activities of this offering.

Myofacial Release for Range of Motion

Sat, May 25, 20194:00 PM  Sat, Jul 13, 20196:00 PM

This very special offering is unique to Bloom and offers a very effective and often over looked technique to safely increasing depth and range of motion in yoga, and those perpetually "stuck" spots in our bodies.

Myofascial release (MFR) therapy focuses on releasing muscular shortness and tightness. One of the many benefits to incorporating MFR into a regular practice is  increased flexibility or function following an injury or if experiencing ongoing back, shoulder, hip, or virtually pain in any area of the body and releases tightness of the tissues that restricts motion or pulls the body out of alignment, causing individuals to favor and overuse one hip or shoulder. This is an issue that everyone deals with and causes puzzling pains in the body that are hard to diagnose or find the cause of.

This course empowers students and teachers to treat and heal their bodies imbalances, pain, and the bound, stubborn muscles that don't seem to unstick no matter how much yoga we do

Read more about fascia below.

This is a 4 week series, devided into categories: shoulders, hips, lower limbs and spine/torso, and follows an anatomy lab lesson addressing the appropriate body part. These courses will be co-facilitated by Lisa Trunkenbolz and Rachel Hall. See more about Lisa and Rachel below.

This class runs from 4-6 pm on the following dates:

May 25- Shoulders with Lisa

June 1-Hips with Rachel

June 22- Lower limbs with Rachel

July 13- Spine and torso with Lisa

Investment for this course is $40 per course or $130 for the series. Pre-registration is highly suggested. Can be applied toward YA-CEU's.

What is fascia and why is so it important?

Fascia is the connective tissue in our bodies, which gives us support, mobility and flexibility. When fascia becomes restricted it can cause great disharmony in our natural alignment, causing us pain and limited range of motion. Myofascial simply refers to the fascial system and how it relates to skeletal muscle, ‘myo’ meaning muscle and ‘fascial’ connective tissue. Learn more about our fascial system and self-treatment techniques using tools like foam rollers, soft sports balls and stretching to release fascial restrictions. Incorporating myofascial self-treatment into your daily self-care regimen can significantly decrease muscular pain while increasing flexibility!

Reiki Level 1-2

Reiki Level 1-2

Join Reiki Master Practitioner Lisa Trunkenbolz for this combined Level 1 and 2 Reiki Healing Practitioner Certification Workshop.

Reiki Level 1 and 2 practitioners will be attuned to the Reiki energy and instructed in the ways in which they can use and become familiar with the use of this healing practice on themselves and loved ones. Adding this level 2 attunement to this workshop magnifies the potency, while giving clear guidelines for introducing Reiki Energy Healing into professional offerings. Reiki master attunement are available at this time by private appointment.

Reiki is an intuitive life force energy that promotes healing and well being in the physical body. The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words: “Rei” which means Higher Power or Universal and “Ki” which is life force energy.

Reiki is a gentle, natural and safe method of spiritual energy healing; because it is an intuitive energy, it can only help and never do any harm. A Reiki Practitioner is a healer who has chosen to become attuned to the energy of Reiki. There are typically three levels of attunement starting at Level 1 and going to Reiki Master Teacher. Each level builds upon the knowledge of the proceeding level to allow the practitioner to balance the body’s energy fields for an optimal state of healing and health.

Reiki is effective in healing or improving illness, injury, emotional issues, chakra imbalances, viruses and practically any other condition effecting our health and well being. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery. The willingness of the participant is crucial as Reiki, like all energy healing, does not do the actual healing. All healing is done from our own bodies. Reiki helps the body become free of blocks and imbalances that prevent healing from occurring; greatly enhancing our body’s ability to heal and restore our optimal state of health.

Reiki treats body, mind and spirit. A healing session will likely leave you feeling relaxed and energized at the same time with a renewed sense of mental clarity. Reiki raises your vibration and allows for a deeper connection to spirit and your higher self, making it an excellent resource for spiritual enlightenment.

The investment for this event is $130. Please keep in mind that this is a combined level 1 and 2 attunement, which can be taken separately.

Journaling and Yoga

Use the power of yoga and the written word to clarify your intentions, thoughts and remove mental blocks. Through this 4 week series Sarah will thoughtfully guide you to explore gentle movements that are designed to encourage the flow of your pen to paper with carefully crafted journaling prompts. In our yoga practice we often use tools of meditation, asana, and pranayama to access a deeper state of serenity or even a higher consciousness. In journaling we begin to free our thoughts, through the physical art of hand writing, allowing our thoughts and experiences to hold their truth in space. When we actively combine these two uniquely personal experiences we are given the opportunity to gain more knowledge about our patterns, and passions. With this knowledge you become empowered to live from your most authentic state. Experience or knowledge of yoga is not required, please bring your own journal and pen, know that your words are your own and your privacy will be respected. Our final session will be followed with a warm cup and a sweet something. Dates: April 27, May4, 11, 18 $70.00 prior to April 20 $80.00 thereafter. $25 for single class drop in.

New Moon Energy Clearing and Retrograde Balancing

New Moon Energy Clearing and Retrograde Balancing

We are approaching a very important month, and an important New Moon. Each new moon offers us the chance to review our intentions, check in with our progress with them, let go of energies and intentions that have come to completion, and to focus in on revamping our personal intentions for the bigger life picture we are trying to create with ourselves.

For the entire month of March we will have Mercury in retrograde. This can be a very trying time, as Mercury likes to shake things up, challenge our way of thinking, which is always a good thing, but if we are not grounded and balanced, we are very susceptible to falling back on poor habit patterns to soothe ourselves. This energy is very immense, and often lays the groundwork for new and wonderful things to enter into our lives, as long as we understand how to work with the energy.

This event is offered to our friends as an opportunity to:

-Revisit our winter equinox intentions and recommit to what still holds true to our goals

-Clear out any energy that has followed us or worked its way into our thinking, that may be sabotaging or creating stagnance

-Balance our bodies and minds, so that we can best manage potential times of challenge.

After a smudging and clearing community arrival, we will all enjoy a mindfully guided through a restorative practice geared to releasing those pesky spots that just get "stuck". These points in the body can be a housing area for negative or stagnant energy to take residence in, often making us feel lethargic, disinterested, unmotivated and irritable.

Followed by our practice, we will enjoy an extended stay in savasana or restorative pose of your choice, while the singing bowls are played for you. These special crystal bowls bring high vibrational balance into the body.

Once we have done the work to open our physical channels and raise the frequency through the singing bowls, we will enjoy a yoga nidra. In the state of relaxation and high vibration that we will be in, yoga nidra will work to "awaken" the body through the living and ever present mind within the body through gentle and loving awareness.

You can expect to leave feeling refreshed and aligned with your goals and purpose.

Please arrive 10 minutes early. As will most of our ceremonies, we do set the tone by smudging all participants before they enter, to keep the space sacred and clear.

4:20 arrival and smudging
4:30 sacred space and community opening
4:40 yoga practice
5:25 singing bowls
5:40 yoga nidra
6:00 community closing

Investment is $20 or included in membership. Held in St. Charles.

Current Vibrations-restoring harmony through music

The experience of live music is an ever evolving vibrational relationship between the audience and the artist. It is with this relationship in mind that Marnie Lyn, Jay Taylor, and Bloom Wellness have crafted an evening of music. You are invited to co-create this experience through your role as an audience member. Marnie Lyn is a musical artist based in Chicago, IL. As a singer and songwriter, Marnie shares with her audience the spirit and honesty of a storyteller. Marnie’s musical training, begun at age 5 on an electric keyboard, continued for years on the piano. Eventually, Marnie was drawn to acoustic and electric guitar as more fitting instruments for her soothing voice and dynamic energy. Marnie invites true connection with her audience, incorporating original ballads and less structured lyrical compositions as well as her favorite cover songs. Each performance unfolds in its unique, mysterious way, depending on the feel of the room. She encourages listeners to journey with her, and intimately explore a shared humanness. Jay Taylor is a musician, sound healer, and urban farmer living in Chicago. Over the past 15 years he has created a diverse array of music including hip-hop beats, acoustic folk, and jazz inspired pop. 2018 was a year of transition as Jay moved out of a 10 year teaching position and began facilitating meditation with sound. It was through his experimentation with a gong and crystal bowls that Jay began creating his latest batch of songs. These guitar driven compositions explore spiritual truth and questions and work to engage listeners through guided visualizations and other techniques for the release of stress and for Self-discovery.

The investment for this experience is $12 if pre-registered by Feb 3, or $17 thereafter and at the door.

Microgreens 101: Learning to Grow

Jay Taylor is a musician, sound healer, and urban farmer. He first began growing food while teaching at Carlos Fuentes Elementary in Chicago. The home/school experiment began with growing leafy greens in jars, then tomatoes in buckets, and finally an automated tower system. The limitations of these methods in terms of production and electricity consumption became obvious so Jay began looking into alternatives. The answer he found was microgreens. They were cheap to produce, easy to grow, took less than two weeks to harvest, were high yielding, superbly nutritious, and undeniably delicious. Microgreens 101 was born out of Jay’s desire to support others in tapping their own power and taking control of what they put into their body.

Jay is offering you a hands on experience in soiling, compressing, watering, and seeding a tray of Peashoots. Through this process you will learn how to consistently grow highly nutritious and delicious food in your home. The course will focus on the procedures of planting, growing, and harvesting microgreens and will feature essential information about water filtration, lighting, soil, and seed. When it is time to go you will take your tray and step-by-step procedures and finish the growing and harvesting process at home. In less than two weeks your harvest will yield roughly 1 pound of food with a grocery store value of $30!

When? January 26th from 12:30pm to 1:45pm

For a reading and discussion
From her new book Divorce: a love story

Sunday, January 20
7 – 8:30 pm

Bloom Yoga
1020 Cedar Avenue, Suite 230
St. Charles, Illinois

“Kay Eck’s moving and melodic memoir brings us in close-range view of her maples journey to consciously uncouple from her husband of nearly 30 years. She takes us along as she sorts through thorny emotions and potent truths before finding solid footing in her own life. Her sometimes harrowing, sometimes humorous path takes her on a rich and bumpy ride through self-discover, unplanned healing and luminous growth. Beautifuly written and honestly portrayed, Divorce: a love story cracks marriage wide open revealing the hidden light radiating from within every partnership especially the one we have with our Self.

"I just finished this beautiful book... or poem... there's not really a name that I know of for what it is. More than a story about conscious uncoupling, it is a window into the heart of a mystic that also happens to illumine a (r)evolutionary antidote to the mass hypnosis that would have us sleep-walking through the unconscious habit of trying to "ex" love out of our hearts. I loved it." -- T.A.

Books available on site for purchase and signing.

Kay Eck is an astute observer of what she calls the “devastating and incandescent shared human journey”. With a career path that has traversed the fields of journalism, public relations, motherhood, fine arts, business management and yoga, her lifelong devotion has been in leading a conscious and purpose-filled life and mentoring others along the path of sacred self-love.

Finding True Peace by Forgiving All with Bhante Sujatha

Finding True Peace by Forgiving All with Bhante Sujatha

Finding true Peace (by forgiving everyone)… a discussion on how to let go and move on. By Bhante Sujatha Buddha said, to understand everything is to forgive everything. Does this make you mad? Yes, me too sometimes. It’s easy to say we forgive but not easy to do, especially when someone has wronged or hurt us. All the wisdom teachings I know of invite us to find true inner peace by letting go of the hurt others have caused. When we realize that to hold on to anger only causes us harm, it becomes more urgent to learn ways to cultivate compassion and extend forgiveness. A common misunderstanding is the belief that once you forgive you are done. I have found, forgiveness requires daily renewal and vigilant effort. As with all things in this life, our feelings change moment by moment, so, we have to work to forgive again and again every day, every moment. Please join me in a conversational workshop on forgiveness and the steps we must take to truly forgive ourselves and others, love ourselves, and renew this commitment every day. Forgive others not because they deserve forgiveness, but because you deserve peace – Buddha Date: Saturday, January 13, 3-5 pm. Event donation is $35. Why Should You attend? Bhante believes his purpose is not only to teach meditation, but also, “teaching people how to be happy.” Proceeds go to to Bhante’s Incubator Project in Sri Lanka Bhante does his book signing after workshop and his Cds also available to purchase. Bhante Sujatha, a 30+ year Buddhist Monk, is singularly focuses on adding more love in the world. Bhante teaches loving-kindness meditation to people around the globe for all those seeking the art of happiness and contentment. His approach to meditation is deep and simple, bringing core Buddhist teachings to everyone in a way that is practical and easy to understand. A joyful, radiant, funny and wildly energetic monk, Bhante will help you obtain peace that can only be found in deep silence. He is originally from Sri Lanka and is the head monk / abbot of the Blue Lotus Buddhist Temple and Meditation Center in Woodstock, IL.

Let's Meet in the Field of Love

Let’s Meet in the Field of Love

led by Kay Eck with accompaniment by Ryan Carney on Cello and

Lisa Trunkenbolz on Crystal Bowls and Voice

Saturday, January 5

7 – 9:30 pm

Donations in any amount for our musicians gratefully accepted.

Please register in advance as space is limited.

Come benefit from the high vibration of a community gathered quietly together in the supportive field of peace, unity & love. Come as you are to be who you are, even if neither of those is clear to you.

There will be no set format for your participation - you will be encouraged to breathe easily and deeply, move consciously, relax as you see fit, sit silently if you desire. We ask that you arrive on time, but feel free to stay only as long as you like.

The times are requiring each of us to peel away all masks, drop false perceptions, dissolve deep layers of conditioning and BE who we authentically are. The accelerated energetics of 2019 will be unlike anything we’ve ever felt before in humankind. And while our soul-Selves are whooping and cheering about being on the rollercoaster they’ve been waiting eons to ride, our human-Selves might be desperately clutching at the perception of an insufficient safety bar.

You were not meant to be here alone.
